Biografia del personaggio: L'attore nasce il 29 marzo 1955 a Dublino, frequenta la Royal Accademy of Dramatic Art e si laurea con lode. Diventa insegnante nelle scuole di secondo livello, prima di fare l'attore insegna matematica al Sn Giuseppe di Dublino e inglese, irlandese ed educazione fisica al Belcam College Secondary shool di Dublino. E un attore versatile inizia ad esercitare questa professione a 34 anni, prima con una serie di piccoli ruoli in produzioni Hollywoodiane con sede in Irlanda. Il primo ruolo importante lo ottiene in “Braveheart” con Mel Gibson. Si sposa con Maria nel 1982 e con lei ha avuto 4 figli, Domhnall, Fergus, Brian e Rory, due dei suoi figli hanno preso parte a film con lui. L'attore suona il violino e lo si vede suonare in “Micheal Collins” e “Ritorno a Could Montain”.
